No, You are not going Crazy, You are Awakening

10 Signs that you are Awakening to a deeper truth about yourself & the world around you.

It was almost a year ago when I first wrote and posted this blog about what happens when you begin to ‘wake up’ to the world around you. Which sometimes people often call a ‘mid-life crisis ‘. It begins the moment you stop and step back and become aware of the things in your life that just don’t seem to be working anymore. There is a feeling or sense that something is wrong. You seem confused, lost, and maybe in despair about the state of the world.
It is now a sign of the times that the word “awakened” has made it into the urban dictionary, where it is defined as “spiritually aware of the universe and [its] direct metaphysical connection to one’s own being and the connection it has to all life forces.”

The idea of the spiritual awakening was popularised in the Western world by famed psychiatrist Carl Jung (who described the process as coming back to the original Self), but let’s be honest, the experience or meaning of rising to higher states of self-awareness or commonly referred to today as ‘raising our consciousness’ has always been an intrinsic part of what it means to be human. When I began to awaken over ten years ago, people often told me “it’s all bullshit and you need to just accept life is tough”…. but despite all the naysayers… I am so grateful I persisted with my insatiably curious heart and continued on my path of awakening.

One of the first signs of awakening is just noticing that things around you look different. I refer to this as coming into ‘awareness’. You realise that you have been living life on autopilot without giving much thought to where you are going, who you are, what you want, and why you are here. You begin to notice that you are struggling with uncomfortable emotions, such as anxiety, isolation, and sadness. You will often become more frustrated and irritable with things like your physical appearance, your body weight, and certain people’s behaviours, (usually those closest to you ). You will become more aware of your behaviours and habits that are accentuating internal conflict, pain, and confusion in your mind and body. You start to feel stuck, bored, unfulfilled, lost, and resentful….and nothing seems to make sense. The most challenging part of all is … you have no idea know why!

You have come to a time in your life when you say no more, enough is enough, I am done.

How can I be sure of this? Because I have been there. I have walked the path and I am here to guide you and let you know, you are not alone…and NO…you are not crazy!!.. You are Awakening. An awakening woman knows deep within her she was born for greater things and she is now ready to answer that call. It’s time for you to know that it is possible for your life to make perfect sense. It is time to bring into alignment the moral and spiritual axis of the universe so every moment of your life is a walk in grace and that you know without a doubt who you are and that you are in the right place.

To continue the path of awakening you must be willing and courageous to change the life that you planned (in your head) in order to find the one waiting for you “.

You feel disconnected or detached.

At first, you can feel overwhelmed and confused. It can feel like everything you thought to be true about your life is in fact a lie. You find yourself questioning all things. You feel misunderstood and no one around you “gets you”. You begin to clear certain things out of your life (habits, relationships, old belief systems). You may feel like something is missing, but you haven’t quite figured it out yet. During this phase, it’s common to feel lost, confused, and down.

Your Awareness Increases

You begin to notice things are changing both in your inner world and outer world, Your inner thoughts, beliefs, and emotions. You are simply becoming more aware of how you think and how you are physiologically and emotionally responding to certain events and becoming irritable around certain people. You start to become aware of the food you are eating and certain foods you cannot digest any longer.

You start to reevaluate your beliefs & values

You are starting to question your beliefs and reevaluate whether they are still in alignment with your life. Whether they are religious or cultural beliefs, you notice that your priorities are changing and doing things beyond what you formerly believed to be true.

You feel Alone

Spiritual awakenings are not for the faint-hearted, and while there’s hope for enlightenment and freedom on the other side, it can feel very lonely at times. It’s isolating to have your whole life in question especially if the other people in your life aren’t quite on the same wavelength. You begin to tell yourself that you ‘I don’t fit in’, ‘I am different’, and ‘ I don’t belong’.
These are all the ways the ego-reasoning mind will start to sabotage your awakening and keep you from moving forward.

Grief

There are times when you will feel a deep sadness come over you. An intense heaviness of loss and you are unsure why. It feels uncomfortable and there are times when you will just want to cry and cry. My mentor at the time described it as suffering from the 3 H’s… Happilessness, Hopelessness, and Helplessness. It’s a sign of change occurring within you as you let go of the old limiting beliefs and welcome the new.

Physical Symptoms

A number of physical symptoms can also accompany your awakening, like fatigue and brain fog. You may also notice you have headaches, and joint pain, and either gain or lose a sudden amount of weight. (However, these symptoms, of course, could also be a sign of a medical condition, so don’t necessarily write them off as nothing and see your doctor)

Increased Compassion

Compassion is an action inspired by your empathy. It literally means “to suffer within” but be unafraid. As you journey through your awakening, you will begin to notice both a more all-encompassing empathy and a more action-oriented compassion that feels fulfilling with this increased passion to want to help and be of service to humanity.

Increased Intuition

In what is often referred to as our ‘sixth’ sense, you will notice newly heightened levels of intuition and your intuitive abilities showing up. They were always there, buried beneath the layers of your ego mind, and now that you are awakening, you feel much more in tune with yourself. At first, you may find it difficult to distinguish between your ego and your intuition, but as you release your subconscious fears, your intuitive abilities only get louder and clearer. Your job from here is to trust it. As you live more intuitively, you will learn to create a story filtration system to help you understand what is really your truth.

Increased Authenticity

With awakening comes confidence, courage, and a deep sense of self-worth. You will begin to release the need to conform to cultural norms or remain politically correct. Instead, you will feel a real complete sense of satisfaction with who you are, and the choices you make abound. Just living each day and being your true self becomes one of your most appealing traits.

Drawn to Nature

While you may start to be feeling less connected to your friends at family at first, you will feel more connected to nature. From plants to animals and to the world as a whole, you will sense a deeper interconnectedness to all, and may even find yourself emotional when looking at the sunrise in the morning and sunset at night. You will start to notice trees and flowers that you never did before as you awaken deeper to the truth that you are not in the universe, but that you are the universe.

So now that I am awakening, what now?

It’s important to note that awakening to a spiritual path is not an intellectual experience. As an intelligent and intellectual woman, you are now being asked to change the coversation and be willing to change your perception. It’s a process and a practice that will require patience and persistence for you to fully discover the real you, unapologetically and courageously.

An awakening woman knows she is ready to reclaim her power and wisdom she has within her and brought through from her many lifetimes, weaving it now into new forms to help and empower others to do the same. It’s the time she has been waiting for her. Right Now.
